ALL ROADS LEAD TO HOME

For nearly two decades, Tanzara Gallery has been committed to presenting artists whose work reflects both artistic excellence and cultural significance to Pakistan’s creative landscape. It is with great pride that we present Sara Shakeel’s first solo exhibition in Islamabad, a homecoming for an artist whose practice began here and has since garnered international recognition across museums, galleries, and global brand collaborations.

Few contemporary artists from Pakistan have achieved the scale of global recognition that Sara has. Celebrated internationally as the “Queen of Crystals,” her work has been featured by Vogue, Forbes, and the Financial Times, commissioned by houses such as Victoria’s Secret, Lancôme, and Dior, and exhibited at institutions including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. With a global following of over a million admirers, she stands among the most recognised Pakistani artists of her generation.

Sara’s work occupies a distinctive space within contemporary art – one that merges digital innovation with traditional craftsmanship, and personal narrative with universal themes of identity and transformation. Yet this exhibition marks a particularly significant moment: the opportunity to present her work to the community and city where her artistic journey originated.

We are especially honoured to showcase elements from her celebrated cosmic installation, originally presented at ArtisTree in Hong Kong, alongside a curated selection of prints spanning her artistic evolution. The inclusion of these works, hand-embroidered by over eighty artisans in Pakistan, speaks to the calibre of craftsmanship our country continues to produce on the global stage.

I extend my sincere gratitude to Sara Shakeel for entrusting Tanzara Gallery with this milestone presentation, to co-curator Usman Ahmed for his dedication and vision throughout this collaboration, and to our audience and collectors, whose continued support has sustained this gallery’s mission for twenty years.

It is our privilege to welcome this remarkable body of work home.
